Last summer’s Ely Folk School canoe flotilla to the Lac La Croix pow wow was a huge hit! This summer EFS is one of many programs associated with Ely’s participation in a “This Land is Our Land” event hosted by Northern Tier Scout Base on Moose Lake. Coast-to-coast events that evening will celebrate America’s public lands legacy and the businesses & programs that depend upon these parks, forests & wilderness areas. This national ‘public lands party’ is sponsored by the Conservation Alliance, a national association of “outdoor businesses that give back to the outdoors.”
Free and open to the public, the Ely event includes a 4-6 pm paddle tour of the west end of Moose Lake followed by a 6-7 pm picnic dinner in Northern Tier’s beautiful new Reception Hall. Canoes, paddles, pfd’s will be provided as needed along with the meal, at no charge. Other participating organizations include area Y camps, the Wolf & Bear Centers, VOBS, outfitters & resorts and hunting, fishing & conservation groups. For more info & RSVPs: Paul 365-6022
