Dear Canoe Builders, Friends, and Supporters:
Greetings! This is a reminder that Week 5 of the Birch Bark Canoe Project is tonight, Monday, June 10th, from 5-9 pm at the Ely Folk School (EFS). We meet in the North Classroom; next to the red blacksmith shop behind the folk school. The only unlocked door at EFS will be at the North Classroom. Suggested parking is in the big lot accessed from the alley. Feel free to come when you can and leave when you want.
Our focus tonight is on lashing gunwales. Ongoing work includes crafting with broad hatchets, crooked knives, draw knives, and shaving horses to produce cedar gunwale caps, pegs, planks, and ribs. Please bring comfortable leather gloves.
