Learn to Knit a Norwegian Style Sweater

Do you admire the beautiful sweaters from Scandinavia? Now you can learn to make your own! You’ll knit a doll size sweater to learn the techniques of two-color knitting using steeks (small bridges of knitted stitches added to the main pattern), allowing you to knit continuously in the round, which is easier than switching to purling every other row. You cut the steeks to shape your sweater and finish the cut edges. Steeks can be used to create armholes, neck openings, pockets, or cardigan fronts as well as to knit blankets in the round. This class is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and above.

About the Instructor: Diane Thomson has been knitting since 1985 and has taught previously at the Ely Folk School and several yarn shops in the Twin Cities. She currently offers knitting classes at Sisu Designs Yarn Shop in Ely. She likes sharing her knowledge of and enthusiasm about knitting and also enjoys other fiber arts.
