An elegant and sturdy hand-bound book is a joy to make and a pleasure to use, whether for writing, sketching or as a guestbook. In this class, we will create a hardbound, cloth-covered book with blank pages of high quality, acid-free paper. You will learn about tearing paper, punching sewing holes, folding and sewing signatures, as well as creating the book cloth with which to make the hard cover of your book. At the end of the class, you will have a book ready for whatever use you desire. The skills you gain using simple tools will enable you, with attention and a bit of practice, to make hardbound books at home without complicated bookbinding equipment.
